Companies often believe they provide valuable services when they promote their product. But many of us are rather allergic to it and we don’t allow ourselves to buy anything that is being offered to us commercially.
As of March 2022 over 403,000 Swedish residents have blocked direct mailing ads by signalling they don’t want ads on the 403 000 statenspersonadressregister website alone.
In this step-by-step guide you will learn how to stop receiving ads in Sweden. The good news upfront: It´s not that difficult and with few simple steps you can end the invasive direct marketing mail filling up your mailbox.

In this step-by-step guide you will learn how to stop receiving ads in Sweden. The good news upfront: It´s not that difficult and with few simple steps you can end the invasive direct marketing mail filling up your mailbox.
Step 1: Go to Statenspersonadressregister website
First, open Statenspersonadressregister.se
Then, click on “Reklamspärr” (update my data personal data).

Step 2: Log in with BankID
After this, you log in with your BankID.
If you don’t have a BankID, here is more information about how to get a BankID.

Step 3: Block the ads and provide your consent
Change the setting to “Ja” in both fields. That way you set a ad block and also you consent statenspersonadressregister providing the information to the businesses that you don’t wish to receive any ads. SAVE your settings and… That’s it. You’re done.

Step 4 (optional): What else can I do?
It might take a few days before the setting has reached all companies. If you get any direct marketing mail in the meantime, write on the envelop “RETUR” and send it back to the companies.
There are also other providers of addresses for direct marketing purposes. To exclude yourselves from there too, we’d recommend to see the ad block at NixAdressat too.
Great job taking care of your privacy.
